What do I need to checkout books? You need a picture ID and be a current student, an alumn, faculty, or staff. Can I get a community library card at UH ? How do I find what I need in the library? Look on the library's online catalog to find books, videos, assessment instruments and other materials that the library owns. For a quick look at the journals owned by the Library, take a look at the Argosy Union List of Serials. This list gives you an alphabetical listing of journal titles held at all Argosy University campuses. To find journal articles, you might try using one of our databases available through EBSCO or LIRN, or check the list on the Library's Databases page. If you have any more questions, be sure to ask at the Circulation Desk. How do I get a specific reference question answered? If you have a question and need search assistance, come to the Circulation Desk. This desk is staffed at all hours that the library is open. Faculty and students are encouraged to consult with the librarian concerning their research needs. You are also encouraged to call or email reference requests to the librarian, especially if you reside on the neighbor islands. What is kept behind the Circulation Desk? Reserved books / readings assigned by Professors for each course. Alumni Clinical Research Projects and MA Projects. Psychological Assessment Instruments. Media equipmenttape recorders, transcribers, videorecorders, etc. | Top of Page | Why can't I checkout reserve/reference/journals? Items are placed on Reserve because they have been assigned for a course and we anticipate a high demand. Students may use reserve materials on campus so that everyone has access to the materials. Some reserve items may be taken overnight. You can sign up ahead of time to check out these items. The same principal for reserves also guides the use of reference materials and journal articles. Laptops and Laptop projectors may be used on campus only. How do I checkout the laptop projector/laptop? You can reserve the laptop projector/laptop ahead of time for campus use only by stopping by, calling, or emailing the library. Please note that faculty have priority in making reservations and some have a standing reservation for a class for an entire term. Can I use my personal laptop in the library? Yes. There are electrical outlets in the library study area. In the computer lab there are many outlets to plug into, and an ethernet hub to connect your laptop to the internet. | Top of Page | Where can I find the most recent issues of the journals? Most recent issues of journals are on display as soon as you walk into the library. The rest of the journals are shelved in two places: one an archive section that contains older years, the other section containing more recent years. Each section is organized alphabetically by title. Be sure to check the Argosy Union List of Serials to find out whether or not we carry a particular title. What can I do if I can't find a book/video/journal in the Argosy system? You are encouraged to check community libraries for materials not housed in the Argosy system. Argosy University will reimburse enrolled students to join the University of Hawaii Library system as a community member. Where can I return books when I'm finished with them? You can drop off items at the library Circulation Desk when the library is open. If it is after hours, you can drop off your books and videos in the Book Drop located outside of the library. Is there a photocopier available? Yes. There is a photocopier in the library that is used with a copy card. Photocopies are $ .05/ page. How do I get a copy card? You can purchase your copy card for $1.00 at the card machine next to the photocopier. You then charge up your copy card with dollar bills (machine excepts ones, fives, tens, and twenties). When you make copies, your copy card is automatically debited. You can recharge your copy card at any time. What if I still can't find what I need to know? Please ask at the Circulation Desk for assistance for solving your information needs. When does the Clinical Psychology program booklist come out? The booklist for the Clinical Psychology program comes out approximately one month before the current term. You can also check our bookstore, MBS Direct, for listings of texts for each course. | Top of Page | |
